Iran’s propaganda: narratives and channels of dissemination

The Center for Countering Disinformation is launching a series of reports on Iranian media, propaganda, and the key figures behind it.

▫️ Since the start of the full-scale invasion, some Iranian outlets, including Fars News, have quoted Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh, who said: “The constant provocative actions of US-led NATO caused the current situation in Eurasia,” thus echoing the russian narrative.

Additionally, the daily Jam-e Jam, affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, welcomed the russian invasion, even featuring a front-page photo of pro-russian activists waving the tricolor in Donetsk.

Meanwhile, Iran officially does not endorse russian aggression and calls for de-escalation, likely to keep open the possibility of negotiations with the U.S. and Europe to ease sanctions.
