Video of Ukrainians “asking russia for help” is fake!
Videos are spreading on TikTok allegedly showing Ukrainians protesting in the streets and “asking russia for help.” In fact, these are fake videos created by russian propagandists.
To produce such fakes, they use real footage of protests that took place in Ukraine at different times — some more than ten years ago. Old videos are overdubbed with new audio featuring calls for “russian help.”
The goal of this campaign is to create the illusion that pro-russian sentiment supposedly prevails in Ukraine and that society is “tired of the war.” In this way, russia tries to justify its armed aggression against our country. Such information operations are yet another attempt by moscow to destabilize the situation inside Ukraine.
We urge everyone to think critically about suspicious videos on social media, verify sources, and avoid spreading fakes — this is also a way to resist russian propaganda.
