Russia escalates information operations against Ukrainians on social media
The Center has recorded an intensification of russian information operations aimed at destabilizing the situation in Ukraine. In particular, the enemy is increasing efforts to recruit Ukrainians to carry out acts of sabotage.
▫️ Curators from russian intelligence services are luring Ukrainians— including teenagers—into subversive activities via social media, using promises of quick money or blackmail. This includes arson attacks on military vehicles or terrorist acts targeting administrative buildings.
In parallel, a large-scale information campaign is being conducted online to sow division and demoralize Ukrainian society. One of the main themes of the destructive narratives being pushed into Ukraine’s information space is mobilization. Bot activity is often exposed by absurd phrases like “immersed in beads,” which result from machine translation into Ukrainian.
▫️ The enemy is also actively using AI technologies. AI-generated images of alleged Ukrainian soldiers may be used to identify audiences that russian intelligence services can more easily manipulate.
Maintain good information hygiene online and do not fall for enemy manipulations.
If you or someone you know is being targeted for recruitment to carry out sabotage in the interests of the russian federation – report it via the Security Service of Ukraine chatbot “Burn the FSB agent”
