The Center has observed a new wave of AI-generated clips on TikTok and other social media, in which “soldiers” describe the frontline situation or mobilization. In reality, these videos have no connection to real fighters.
russian propagandists use such AI videos to spread sensitive narratives: about “forced mobilization of youth under 25,” “inevitable catastrophe,” “mass casualties,” and “lack of control.” The goal is to sow fear, demoralize Ukrainian society, and undermine trust in the Armed Forces and state institutions.
▫️ Many of these accounts appeared just weeks or months ago. They rapidly gain reach through emotional content and are then used to systematically push pro-russian narratives.
These videos are created during information overload—when society receives dozens of alarming news items daily. In the fast content flow, people find it harder to notice AI-generated signs, and some viewers unknowingly spread these clips. russia exploits this by releasing AI fakes when they are most likely to go viral.
