russia continues to seize housing from people of Mariupol
russians have gone even further in their efforts to seize homes from Mariupol residents. Now, not only the apartments of those who fled the city are being declared “ownerless,” but also those of people who still living under occupation.
▫️ This is confirmed by numerous videos posted online by people of Mariupol. People say they submitted documents to the occupation administration proving ownership of their homes, but later found notices on their doors stating that their apartments had been listed as “ownerless” property and were subject to “nationalization.” Residents fear they could end up on the streets, despite complying with all the occupiers’ requirements.
russia continues its strategy of replacing Mariupol’s population with people loyal to the russian regime. While people of Mariupol are forced to fight bureaucratic “battles” for their apartments or wait for years to receive compensation for destroyed homes, russian settlers are easily granted mortgages in the city.
