Massive attack on Kyiv: russia lies again to justify its actions
russian propaganda has launched a large-scale disinformation campaign aimed at justifying the massive strikes on civilian and cultural sites in Kyiv during the night of June 15 and evading responsibility for its own war crimes.
▫️ Enemy information resources are following a familiar pattern: they attempt to disguise the deliberate terrorizing of civilians as “strikes on military targets” or shift the blame onto Ukraine itself.
▫️ In particular, propagandists describe the large fire at the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra (a UNESCO World Heritage site) as a “Ukrainian provocation” and “arson.” Likewise, the enemy is spreading conspiracy theories alleging that the Ukrainian authorities were somehow involved in the strike on the building of the High Anti-Corruption Court.
▫️ The Dovzhenko Film Studio has been declared a “legitimate military target” because it is allegedly a “breeding ground for propaganda.” Propaganda outlets are also pushing claims that weapons-production facilities disguised as civilian sites are being set up throughout Kyiv — in the imagination of russian propagandists, virtually every building is a “military facility.”
▫️ As usual, they have also resorted to blaming “Ukrainian air defense” for damage to civilian buildings.
russia alone bears full responsibility for the deaths and injuries of Kyiv’s civilians, as well as for the destruction of historical and civilian infrastructure, and it must be held accountable. No amount of manipulation, conspiracy theories, or attempts to assign a “military status” to civilian sites will help the aggressor conceal yet another war crime.
