Fake advertisement in India allegedly encouraging relocation to Ukraine
A fake image of a billboard allegedly displayed in the Indian city of Mumbai, encouraging people to move to Ukraine, is being circulated online.
◽️ The fabricated billboard features a woman in traditional Ukrainian clothing and includes a message urging Indian residents to seek jobs in Ukraine, relocate there to start families, and build their future.
In reality, the image is fake. It was created using graphic editing software and artificial intelligence. No such information campaign has been conducted in India.
◽️ This disinformation narrative is part of a broader anti-migrant information operation orchestrated by russia. The Center has repeatedly documented fakes spread as part of this campaign.
◽️ Actual statistics refute claims about the alleged “mass influx” of migrants into Ukraine: during the first four months of 2026, only 3,200 work permits were issued to foreign nationals, which is several times lower than pre-war figures.
The goal of this russian disinformation campaign is to fuel xenophobic sentiments, promote fears of “population replacement,” artificially create an atmosphere of distrust, and destabilize Ukrainian society.
