How ru-propaganda justifies the invasion of Ukraine with fictitious stories
russian propaganda is actively spreading claims that the “Kyiv regime tortured the residents of Avdiivka even before the start of the ‘special military operation’.”
▫️ Propagandists are promoting a heart-wrenching story about an anonymous taxi driver who was allegedly kidnapped by police officers and brutally tortured—hung upside down while a ransom was demanded from his mother.
This entire story is based solely on the account of a “refugee” who presents herself as the victim’s aunt. She does not even claim to have witnessed the alleged “torture” firsthand but merely repeats what she supposedly heard from others. Naturally, there is no evidence to support this story—nor can there be—since Avdiivka has been almost entirely destroyed by russian occupiers.
The dissemination of such blatant disinformation is a typical tactic of russian propaganda. By fabricating stories about the “atrocities of the Kyiv regime,” the enemy seeks to justify the war against Ukraine, turn the remaining residents of the temporarily occupied territories against the Ukrainian state, and divert attention from the war crimes committed by the russian army, including in Avdiivka itself.
