Fake video about “elderly people complaining about presence of AFU in village”
russian propaganda is spreading AI-generated videos on TikTok to discredit Ukrainian military personnel.
▫️A wave of videos is being recorded on the social network TikTok, in which supposedly elderly residents of Ukrainian villages tearfully claim that “due to the presence of Ukrainian military,” russia is striking their homes.
These videos show signs of artificial generation: they use images created by neural networks and synthesized voices. In addition, the pronunciation and captions contain words copied from the russian language.
Such materials are created to shift responsibility for war crimes onto Ukraine. Their content repeats the typical russian narrative that the Armed Forces of Ukraine “hide behind civilians” or “place positions among the homes of peaceful residents.”
Such manipulative videos are part of the kremlin’s information-psychological operation aimed at discrediting the Armed Forces of Ukraine and emotionally influencing the international audience.
