▫️This time, they have fabricated a story about a supposed Ukrainian soldier who “shot his commander” and “surrendered to russians.” The video uses the classic set of russian narratives: violence by the command, forced mobilization, and the “humanity” of russian captivity.
The video shows signs of a fake: there are no details to identify the time and place of the events, the military unit, or the personal information of the individuals involved. The face is masked, and there are no patches or evidence of affiliation with the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The rhetoric of the video’s character mimics typical kremlin propaganda clichés.
The spread of such fakes is part of russia’s information operation aimed at undermining trust in the Ukrainian Defense Forces, lowering morale, and disrupting mobilization processes.

For example, recently propagandists spread a video showing the supposed “punishment” of a soldier who was tied to a tree with a bag on his head and forced to give money.
