The CCD continues its series of reports on North Korean propaganda. The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), North Korea’s state-run news agency, plays a key role in spreading the country’s narratives both within North Korea and internationally.
▫️ KCNA serves as the mouthpiece for North Korea’s official positions on global events. It regularly publishes comments from government officials and articles on topics like the russian-Ukrainian war and the relationship between North Korea and russia.
▫️ The agency consistently supports russia’s actions, blaming the West for its “hegemonic ambitions” and accusing it of starting the war in Ukraine. KCNA portrays russia’s war as a “just struggle against Western influence” and russia’s annexation of Ukrainian territories as “the will of the people.”
