Why ru-Propaganda Is Training Loyal Journalists in Africa
A School of journalism has opened in Malabo, the capital of Equatorial Guinea, organized by the russian propaganda project afrikanskaya initsiativa (“african initiative”). According to russian media, during the four-day training, participants will conduct interviews, write news stories, and more.
A similar project was launched last year in Bamako, the capital of Mali. There, the training lasted several months, and upon completion, three graduates were given the opportunity to visit moscow.
In addition to afrikanskaya initsiativa, another russian media outlet, RT, has also launched educational courses in Africa. These trainings were based on RT’s own materials, which promoted propaganda narratives — including portraying Ukrainian soldiers as “neo-nazis and radicals.” At the same time, lecturers denied the chemical attacks carried out by the Bashar al-Assad regime in Syria and russian war crimes in Bucha.
