russia is using construction of nuclear power plant in Vietnam to expand its geopolitical influence

russian propaganda resources are actively spreading the news about the signing of an intergovernmental agreement on the construction of the first “russian-designed” nuclear power plant in Vietnam.

In russia this information is presented as a “breakthrough agreement” that will serve mutual development, but in reality, it’s another attempt by russia to use nuclear energy to strengthen its own influence in the countries of the Global South.

Cooperation in nuclear energy is one of the tools with which the kremlin systematically tries to put the countries of the Global South in long-term dependence. For this, “rosatom” imposes comprehensive agreements that include the training of specialists, constant supplies of nuclear fuel, agreements on waste disposal, etc. Moreover, the kremlin actively provides loans for such projects.

Moscow’s goal is to create Vietnam’s energy dependence on russian technologies and expand its geopolitical influence in Southeast Asia.

russia’s “peaceful atom” is a cover for expansion and strengthening of russia’s geopolitical influence.
