Moscow is trying to avoid a discussion about ending the war

russian deputy foreign minister alexander grushko called the U.S. demand for russia to reach a peace agreement within 50 days “strange.” russian official claimed he “does not understand” why the U.S. is addressing demands to russia rather than Ukraine. Meanwhile, his colleague from the russian foreign ministry, sergey ryabkov, stated that any demands toward moscow are “unacceptable.”

kremlin continues to stubbornly shift responsibility for the war onto others, ignoring the fact that it was russia that invaded Ukraine, launched an occupation war, and carries out daily attacks on Ukrainian cities. The timing of the war’s end depends solely on decisions made in moscow.

▫️ And when russia is offered concrete steps toward peace, kremlin resorts to manipulation and sabotages diplomacy. Its reaction to the U.S. call for a negotiated settlement once again confirms the obvious: russia is not interested in achieving peace. It seeks to prolong the war, mislead the international community, and impose its own terms.
