Hungary expels 10 russian diplomats
Hungarian Foreign Minister Anita Orbán has announced the expulsion of 10 russian diplomats.
The representative of the russian diplomatic mission was officially informed that the individuals had engaged in activities incompatible with the provisions of the Vienna Convention and must leave the country. The Hungarian side stressed that the decision was made to protect the country’s security and sovereignty.
This is not the first case of russian diplomats being expelled in Europe. The activities of russian diplomatic missions in European capitals have long gone beyond traditional diplomacy. The kremlin systematically uses diplomatic missions both to spread propaganda and to conduct subversive activities. European states are increasingly recognising this threat and taking the necessary measures.
Against the backdrop of numerous hybrid attacks against European states, the expulsion of russian agents of influence is becoming a matter of national security and a necessary step to maintain stability.
