Fake about “Zelenskyy’s purchase of a Norwegian Royal Family estate”
A fabricated video report is being circulated on X and by pro-russian sources, claiming that a company allegedly linked to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy purchased a 240-acre estate belonging to the Norwegian royal family for $43 million.
This information is false, and the video report is entirely fabricated.
▫️ The video is styled as a report by a well-known American entertainment news outlet. However, no such report has been published on the outlet’s official platforms.
▫️ There is no official confirmation of any deal involving the sale of the royal property to the company mentioned in the report, either in Norwegian media or in official statements from the Royal Palace of Norway. The report itself was assembled from edited archival footage, while the audio and voice-over show signs of having been generated using AI tools.
▫️ The use of logos of well-known media outlets in fabricated video reports is a typical tactic of the russian disinformation network “Matryoshka.”
▫️ ru-propaganda has repeatedly produced similar fake stories (https://x.com/cforcd/status/1876988081607237802) about “expensive purchases” allegedly made by the Zelenskyy family, which were widely disseminated on social media to discredit Ukraine internationally.
The aim of the campaign is to discredit Ukraine’s leadership, raise doubts about the transparency of international aid use, and undermine support for Ukraine from Norway and other European partners.
