The Center took part in the training conference «FIMI in Ukraine»

▫️ The Communication Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), with the support of the European Union Advisory Mission (EUAM), organised the training conference «FIMI in Ukraine» for the communication units of the National Police, the State Emergency Service, the National Guard, the State Border Guard Service, the Main Service Centre of the MIA, and the State Migration Service.

▫️ Kyrylo Viktorov, Head of the Department for Countering Information Threats to National Security at the Center for Countering Disinformation, presented the conference participants with a presentation titled «FIMI as a Phenomenon: Key Concepts and Tools».

▫️ «FIMI (Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference) is an abbreviation that stands for foreign information manipulations and interference in the information space. The European Union first publicly addressed the phenomenon and threat of FIMI in 2022, particularly in the official document «The EU Strategic Compass», said K. Viktorov.

▫️ The Head of the Department outlined what constitutes a FIMI incident, the characteristics of manipulative content, and the methods by which FIMI influences public consciousness, as well as its objectives and the dangers it poses. He also explained how various methods, strategic, and proactive communications can be used to counteract FIMI.
