The Center participated in the international conference “False narratives, real consequences: the impact of russian disinformation on Ukrainian refugees in Poland and Norway”
▫️ The conference was organised by the Stand With Ukraine Foundation in cooperation with the Juliusz Mieroszewski Dialogue Centre and the Association of Ukrainians in Norway.
▫️ Vasyl Slychko, Senior Analyst at the Department for Countering Information Threats to National Security of the Center for Countering Disinformation, presented a report titled “russian Discreditation of Ukrainian Refugees in European Countries” to the conference participants.
▫️ “Overall, there are three key directions of the aggressor state’s destructive information influence in the context of Ukrainian refugees. These include “the demonisation of Ukrainian refugees aimed at the European audience”, “the demonisation of EU countries regarding their support for Ukrainian refugees, targeting russian and Ukrainian audiences”, as well as “positioning russia as the best refuge for Ukrainian refugees”,” noted V. Slychko.
▫️ V. Slychko also pointed out that to implement its multi-vector destructive information campaign aimed at discrediting Ukrainian refugees, russia actively employs a wide range of propaganda tools—from public statements by officials to the use of coordinated inauthentic behaviour networks that spread destructive messages.
