The Center met with Jānis Sārts
Head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, Officer of the Ukrainian Defense Forces Andrii Kovalenko, held a meeting on May 9 with Jānis Sārts, Director of the NATO Strategic Communications Centre of Excellence. The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Head of the Center, Anayit Khoperiya.
▫️During the meeting, A. Kovalenko and J. Sārts discussed current challenges in the field of information security, particularly the cognitive warfare that Russia is waging against the West. The Head of the Center emphasized the role of artificial intelligence in this war and highlighted the latest AI tools used by the aggressor to amplify cognitive influence.
▫️A. Khoperiya presented the Center’s new projects and stressed the importance of international cooperation in the joint efforts to counter hostile information influence and manipulation.
▫️The parties discussed potential areas of cooperation in countering disinformation, increasing media literacy, and enhancing citizens’ resistance to hostile influences.
The Head of the Center emphasized that for effective combat, Europe must transition to offensive, active, and asymmetric actions, including information operations on the aggressor’s territory.
