The Center held a working meeting with representatives of the European Union
On December 11, 2024, the Center for Countering Disinformation held a working meeting with Peter Wagner, Director of the European Commission’s Service for Foreign Policy Instruments, Arturo Rodriguez Tonelli, Regional Program Manager, EU Service for Foreign Policy Instruments, Eric Galvin, Regional Program Manager of the Service for Foreign Policy Instruments of the European Union Delegation to Vienna, and Nadiya Vertebna, Crisis Response Planner of the Service for Foreign Policy Instruments in Brussels.
During the meeting, Andriy Kovalenko, Head of the Center and officer of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, along with Anayit Khoperiya, Deputy Head of the Center, outlined the Center’s key areas of work. The parties discussed strengthening Ukraine-EU cooperation in information security, highlighted joint initiatives to counter disinformation, and stressed the importance of developing effective tools and strategies to combat it at both national and international levels. It was emphasized that countering hostile information attacks and protecting democratic processes remain top priorities for Ukraine and the EU in the challenging conditions of hybrid warfare.
They also discussed the importance of enhancing analytical capabilities for effective monitoring and response to information threats. The Center shared details about its work in analyzing the media space and providing operational recommendations to government agencies for quick responses to emerging challenges.
Additionally, the parties emphasized the importance of international coordination and support in combating disinformation, as well as the need to strengthen EU-Ukraine cooperation to support projects aimed at promoting information stability and bolstering national security.
The meeting marks an important step forward in the development of Ukraine-EU cooperation to improve the detection of and response to information threats.
