The Center gave a lecture on how FIMI affects information security
On November 5, 2024, Deputy Head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, Anayit Khoperiya, delivered a lecture to students at the National Defense University of Ukraine on the impact of foreign information manipulation and interference (FIMI) on information security.
◽️ A. Khoperiya noted that FIMI, extending beyond simple disinformation and encompassing a variety of hybrid tactics, “has become a serious challenge to national security, public order, and global stability.”
◽️ “We are dealing with complex, systematic attacks on information ecosystems conducted by both state and non-state actors. These attacks, which have political, security, or strategic objectives, are aimed at destabilizing institutions, dividing societies, and undermining democratic values,” she emphasized.
◽️ A. Khoperiya explained the differences and similarities in FIMI tactics across various countries and regions, introduced the audience to early warning systems for FIMI-related incidents and analysis methods, and discussed strategies to counter FIMI through political and diplomatic measures, as well as strategic and proactive communications.
