The training “Simulation of democracy and development to counteract the erosion of democracy”

On October 11, 2023, representatives of the Center for Countering Disinformation took part in the training “Blue Democracy Programs: Ukraine’s path to democratic stabilization. Democracy and development simulation to counteract the erosion of democracy”.

The event was organized by the Vox Ukraine project, the expert organization Internews Ukraine, and the DT Institute.

The participants of the training – representatives of civil society, government, and media – addressed the challenges of rebuilding and modernizing Ukraine with a focus on restoring and stabilizing democratic institutions, political culture and discourse, accountability mechanisms (judicial, legislative, etc.), and preparing for EU membership.

The main goal of the game was to brainstorm ways for civil society to cooperate with the Ukrainian government at the national and regional levels to counter foreign malign influence and authoritarian arbitrariness.

The participants, divided into two teams, worked on several scenarios. Government officials, representatives of local authorities, civil society, and the media made decisions that would promote unity, solve problems caused by the war, ensure transparency and accountability of government, and define Ukraine’s role in a transatlantic democratic society.

The exercise resulted in improved communication between government agencies and civil society.
