The Center participated in a press conference on the violation of neutrality by athletes from aggressor states

On May 29, 2024, the Center for Countering Disinformation took part in a press conference on the violation of neutrality by russian wrestlers and other athletes from aggressor countries. The event was organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine.
Ivan Slychko, Head of the Center’s Media Literacy Department, noted that the CCD and the Ministry of Youth and Sports are fruitfully cooperating within the framework of a working group to coordinate actions aimed at preventing representatives of russia and belarus from participating in international sports competitions.
In this context, I. Slychko informed that the Center, in fulfillment of its tasks, has prepared an analytical report on athletes from the russian federation and the republic of belarus who directly or indirectly support the war against Ukraine.
The head of the department emphasized the Summer Olympics, which will be held this year in France. According to him, the international community should realize that athletes from russia and belarus, who were allowed by the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee to participate in the competition under a neutral flag, are actually involved in the war in Ukraine.
Therefore, it is important to make joint efforts to prevent athletes from aggressor countries from participating in the Olympic Games.
