On October 19, 2023, Acting Head of the Center for Countering Disinformation Andriy Shapovalov met with representatives of Google – Annette Kroeber-Riel, Google Vice President of Government Affairs & Public Policy of Europe, Patrick Warnking, Google Vice President of Central and Eastern Europe, and Marta Poslad, Director of Government Affairs and Public Policy, GAPP CEE & Transatlantic.
During the meeting, the parties discussed current challenges in the field of information security, as well as cooperation between government agencies, NGOs and international technology companies such as Google in digital education.
А. Shapovalov thanked Google representatives for their cooperation with the CCD in increasing the level of media education of state employees, identifying and blocking hostile YouTube channels that were funded by russia and spread disinformation in Ukraine and abroad, supporting fact-checking organizations in Ukraine, etc.
The parties agreed to further expand cooperation in order to implement new innovative solutions in the field of countering disinformation, as well as to enhance work on increasing media literacy and the resistance of government employees and the public to disinformation.
The parties also emphasized the importance of helping the media identify, respond to, and counter disinformation, manipulation, and propaganda.
