“Privileged Ukrainians” in Germany: new AI campaign on TikTok

In the German-speaking segment of TikTok, an anti-Ukrainian information operation has been detected, using content generated with artificial intelligence.

▫️ In these videos, presented as “humorous sketches,” Ukrainians are depicted as a “privileged category” allegedly allowed more rights in Germany than local residents.

Examples of the circulating scenarios include:
▪️ A child receives a low grade at school, but after saying “I am from Ukraine,” the grade is immediately raised to the highest;
▪️ A passenger without a train ticket avoids a fine and even takes control of the train, claiming Ukrainian origin;
▪️ A police officer releases a detained thief after hearing “I am Ukrainian.”

All these videos are AI-generated and intentionally exaggerate situations to create a false perception of Ukrainians.

▫️ Similar campaigns have been recorded in other countries and fit into russia’s broader information strategy to discredit Ukrainian refugees in Europe.

The goal of russia is to foster negative attitudes toward Ukrainians and undermine support for Ukrainian refugees in European states.
