“Russian homes” as a platform for ru-propaganda in Central Asia
A series of lectures by russian diplomat and propagandist rodion miroshnik took place at the so-called “russian House” in the capital of Kyrgyzstan. The topics covered were a standard set of anti-Ukrainian clichés and narratives of russian propaganda aimed at justifying russia’s aggression against Ukraine: “military dictatorship,” “external governance,” “Donbas discrimination,” “disillusionment with the EU,” and so on.
Such events are part of kremlin’s systematic campaign to spread disinformation in Central Asian countries in order to keep them within russia’s sphere of influence. The lectures were targeted at political analysts, educators, and journalists — those who can amplify kremlin narratives through their own platforms: television, blogs, lecture halls, etc.
The Center for Countering Disinformation has previously reported that “russian houses,” organized by russian state agency rossotrudnichestvo, are positioned as centers promoting russian language and culture abroad. In reality, these institutions are engaged in spreading disinformation and advancing kremlin interests around the world.
