Cyber incident in Norway: Europe steps up response to russian threat
The Norwegian Police Security Service reported that pro-russian hackers were involved in sabotage at a dam in Norway. On April 7, 2025, they remotely opened the floodgate for four hours, temporarily disrupting the water flow.
▫️ After the cyberattack, a video from the dam’s control panel appeared on Telegram with the marking of a pro-russian group. In doing so, the russians effectively claimed responsibility for the incident.
▫️ The Norwegian agency stressed that russia and its proxies are increasingly using hybrid attacks, and it is necessary to be ready for possible new incidents.
This is already a systemic policy of the russian federation aimed at destabilizing European states — the kremlin seeks to sow fear and chaos. Law enforcement agencies in other European countries have also reported about the growing activity of pro-russian hacker groups targeting sabotage and interference in internal affairs.
