Occupiers seize “ownerless” property from Mariupol residents
russian occupation administration has intensified up efforts to “legally” expropriate housing in Mariupol. In particular, under the pretext of registering so-called “ownerless property,” residents are being forcibly evicted from their own apartments.
◻️Decisions on property seizure are issued through sham courts — without notifying or involving the actual owners. When displaced Mariupol residents attempt to return, they are told their homes no longer belong to them. All possessions — including appliances, furniture, and personal items — are inventoried by commissions and handed over to new “tenants,” typically russians loyal to kremlin or participants in the so-called “special military operation.”
◻️This practice is also widespread in other occupied regions. In Luhansk, for example, russian authorities are carrying out “real estate inventory”, allocating seized land for new developments, and resettling it with their own citizens.
This is not merely looting — it is a deliberate policy of displacing Ukrainian residents from occupied territories in order to strengthen the influence of its power.
