New plane crash in Russia: sanctions are killing passenger aviation
Another deadly passenger plane crash has occurred in russia — this time with a high number of casualties.
▫️ All 49 people on board an aging An-24 aircraft died after it crashed in amur Oblast. The plane was nearly 50 years old and had already been involved in four incidents in recent years.
Today’s disaster is a direct consequence of the state of russia’s passenger aviation sector since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Due to sanctions and isolation, russia has limited access to spare parts, maintenance, or aircraft renewal.
▫️ As a result, the number of aviation incidents has significantly increased, yet russian authorities continue to overlook passenger safety and allow flights on outdated aircraft lacking proper maintenance.
The deaths of dozens of civilians in this crash reflect the criminal neglect of safety by kremlin’s policies.
