Why does Kremlin have 2 million potential convicted “droppers”
russian dictator vladimir putin has signed a law imposing criminal liability on so-called “droppers” — individuals used in “illegal operations with bank cards.”
▫️Although some citizens labeled as “droppers” may themselves be victims of fraud, the law imposes criminal liability with a punishment of up to three years in prison, and up to six years for those organizing such activities. Around 2 million people may fall under the scope of this law.
This initiative is part of russia’s systematic policy to tighten criminal legislation, enabling the state to target a broader category of people. Its true purpose is not the fight against crime, as claimed by russian propaganda, but to turn russia into a “police state” with total control over its population.
The 2 million potential suspects also represent an opportunity to replenish losses in the army due to the war in Ukraine. In exchange for amnesty, not only convicted individuals but also those under investigation for criminal offenses are being mobilized.
