Why Putin is simplifying residency rules for military personnel from CIS countries

▫️ The purpose of these actions is, on one hand, to ensure that the large-scale anti-migrant campaign against people from Central Asian countries, which the russian authorities have been conducting recently to distract the population from economic and social problems, does not lead to a reduction in military cooperation with CIS countries, primarily belarus.
▫️ On the other hand, by easing the conditions for military personnel from CIS countries to stay in russia, kremlin is facilitating the recruitment of these troops to participate in the war in Ukraine on russia’s side.
The huge losses russia has suffered in its war against Ukraine and the gradually decreasing number of russians willing to fight, even for large sums of money, are forcing kremlin to seek alternative ways to replenish its military forces.
