Elections in Poland: a new information provocation by ru-propaganda

Ahead of the second round of the presidential election in Poland, russian propaganda has intensified its information campaign aimed at destabilizing the region. This time, it is spreading a fake story about the alleged “preparation of Volyn to join Poland.”

▫️russian Telegram channels are promoting a fabricated narrative claiming that a Polish language instructor in Ukraine’s Volyn region is handing out maps to university students showing “hypothetical Polish borders” that include parts of Ukrainian territory. These posts are accompanied by insinuations that Poland is planning to annex part of Ukraine. These claims have no basis in reality, and the map mentioned exists only in russian sources.

The goal of this information provocation is to sow distrust between Ukrainians and Poles, discredit Ukraine-Poland cooperation, and influence voter sentiment ahead of Poland’s second round of elections on June 1.

Previously, as part of this disinformation campaign, russian propagandists falsely claimed that Poland was preparing provocations against belarus. russia also attempted to destabilize the situation ahead of the first round of the Polish presidential election.
