Blocking the “Tsargrad”: Azerbaijan fights back against ru-propaganda

It has been reported that the website of russian propaganda TV channel “tsargrad” has been blocked in Azerbaijan. This followed a request by influential Azerbaijani journalist Emil Mustafayev to the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, urging the restriction of access to the resource due to its dissemination of false information targeted against Azerbaijan.

▫️ This is not Baku’s first step in combating disinformation amid cooling relations between Azerbaijan and russia after the incident involving the downing of the AZAL passenger plane by russian forces. Earlier, it was announced that Baku decided to reduce the staff of “Sputnik Azerbaijan” to one journalist, effectively meaning the closure of the editorial office. Recently, the so-called “russian house” was also closed in Baku.

Azerbaijan is consistently cleansing its information space of russian propaganda. More and more countries are recognizing the threats posed by russian disinformation and implementing decisive policies to protect national security from external influence.
