How russia is trying to erase the Ukrainian identity of children in the TOT
The russian authorities continue to turn the education system in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine into a tool for destroying children’s Ukrainian identity.
▫️ Recently, russia’s ministry of education approved an updated list of school textbooks, which included publications on the history of the so-called «regions that reunited with russia». These include history textbooks on «Donbas and novorossiya» for grades 5–7, which present a propaganda-distorted history of Ukrainian territories.
✅ The introduction of these textbooks is part of the kremlin’s systematic efforts to fill educational programmes in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine with war propaganda and denial of Ukrainian identity. Propaganda has previously been incorporated into history, social studies, russian literature and other textbooks. In addition, school education in the temporarily occupied territories includes various «educational activities», which largely consist of kremlin propaganda.
‼️ Under russian rule, educational institutions in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine are being completely transformed into tools for brainwashing and assimilating Ukrainian children, whom the kremlin views as its future mobilisation resource.
