Occupants want to “preserve” ruins in Donetsk region instead of restoration

On the contrary, russians want to turn the ruins into a backdrop for propaganda tours. This only emphasizes that the fate of the residents of the occupied territories is of little concern to them.
By using tales of “preserving historical memory,” russia is hiding its own inability and unwillingness to invest in the reconstruction of war-damaged towns. Similar excuses have been heard more frequently from the occupiers recently. For instance, pushilin recently openly admitted that rebuilding many villages is “economically unfeasible.” He effectively made it clear that local residents will just have to accept the loss of their homes.
