Occupants want to “preserve” ruins in Donetsk region instead of restoration
gauleiter of occupied Donetsk, denis pushilin, stated that some neighborhoods in the war-destroyed cities will be preserved by russia. According to him, in the future, tourists will be brought to these places and shown the ruins as an “example of heroism and memory.”
▫️ This is further confirmation that the promises of kremlin dictator V. putin to “rebuild Donbas better than it was” are worthless. No one plans to restore anything. On the contrary, russians want to turn the ruins into a backdrop for propaganda tours. This only emphasizes that the fate of the residents of the occupied territories is of little concern to them.
By using tales of “preserving historical memory,” russia is hiding its own inability and unwillingness to invest in the reconstruction of war-damaged towns. Similar excuses have been heard more frequently from the occupiers recently. For instance, pushilin recently openly admitted that rebuilding many villages is “economically unfeasible.” He effectively made it clear that local residents will just have to accept the loss of their homes.
