Residents of Mariupol continue to expose Russia’s lies about “reconstruction”
While russian propaganda is still alive with echoes of the loud “victory day” celebrations, the residents of Mariupol decided to remind everyone of the harsh reality in the occupied city and recorded another appeal demanding the compensation promised by the kremlin for their destroyed homes.
▫️ The symbolism is further emphasized by the fact that the appeal was published on May 11 — “republic day,” the anniversary of the fake “referendum” of 2014, which was held with the false promise of unprecedented “prosperity” under russian occupation.
Official propaganda reports allegedly rapid reconstruction progress in Mariupol, but a significant part of the city remains destroyed, and promises of compensation turned out to be fiction. New housing is not being built for local residents, but is given as mortgages to arriving russians. This is how russia’s population substitution policy is being implemented — displacing locals and settling loyal russian citizens who support putin’s regime.
