Fakes about the mobilization of orphans in Sumy region
Russia spreads fakes about the mobilization of orphans in Sumy region
Reports are circulating online about an alleged “secret mobilization” of 17-year-old orphans in Sumy region, claiming they are being forcibly taken to training camps and sent to the front upon turning 18.
▫️ This information is entirely false and is part of a broader disinformation campaign aimed at discrediting Ukraine’s mobilization efforts.
▫️ Under current Ukrainian law, only citizens aged 25 to 60 are subject to mobilization. According to Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation and an officer of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, individuals under 25 can only join the Armed Forces of Ukraine voluntarily by signing a contract.
Earlier, the Center reported on the spread of similar false claims about the mass disappearance of teenagers in Sumy region, allegedly due to forced secret mobilization.
