On March 18–20, 2025, Deputy Head of the Center for Countering Disinformation (hereinafter – the Center) Karolina Tymkiv, Information Services Manager of the Department for Countering Information Threats to National Security at the Center Daryna Harib, and Analyst of the same department Bohdan Morozov-Storozhenko undertook a study visit to Italy with the support of the European Union Advisory Mission in Ukraine.

As part of the visit, meetings were held with representatives of government institutions responsible for media literacy and countering disinformation in Italy.

In particular, during a meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy, current and future cooperation, information exchange, international standards of information analysis, and more were discussed.

Further joint efforts to counter disinformation narratives about Ukraine in the Italian information space were discussed with representatives of the European Commission in Italy.

During the meeting with representatives of the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI), agreements were reached on continued cooperation and experience-sharing in the organization of training sessions on disinformation resilience.

The Center also presented its analytical report “russia’s information influence in Italy” to students of the prestigious LUISS Guido Carli University. The report is based on the Center’s analysis of Italy’s information space, identifying russian influence campaigns, destructive narratives, and key figures aligned with the kremlin’s propaganda machine.

The importance of joint proactive efforts by Ukraine and European states in the information war with russia was emphasized, as ru-propaganda threatens not only Ukraine but also Western countries by undermining their stability and democratic values.

The study visit to Italy will contribute to enhancing the effectiveness of countering the enemy’s destructive information campaigns across Europe.
