Russian statistics show that Ukrainians do not want to live in Russia
Russian propaganda is spreading claims about allegedly thousands of Ukrainians leaving the EU to move to Russia. However, official Russian statistics completely refute this narrative.
In 2024, only 52 people moved from Ukraine to Russia under the voluntary resettlement program for “compatriots” living abroad. In 2021, this number was 1,200—24 times higher. Even the simplification of conditions for repatriates, including the removal of the Russian language proficiency requirement, has not changed the situation.
A total of 28,000 repatriates moved to Russia last year—the lowest figure in the last four years—clearly demonstrating the failure of Putin’s propaganda to convince “compatriots” to settle in Russia.
