Iran’s propaganda: Islamic Centre Hamburg
The Center continues its series on Iranian propaganda and its architects. The Islamic Centre Hamburg (IZH), an organization that was based in Germany and represented the interests of the Iranian regime.
It has been accused of supporting the Hezbollah terrorist group and spreading anti-Semitic views. German authorities conducted investigations and raids, which culminated in the closure of the Islamic Centre Hamburg in July 2024 due to its unconstitutional activities that posed a threat to Germany’s democratic values.
German intelligence services uncovered IZH’s ties to the Iranian regime, specifically its direct subordination to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, confirming its role as an instrument of Iranian propaganda abroad.
In relation to the russian-Ukrainian war, the Islamic Centre Hamburg did not explicitly express its position. However, its activities aligned with anti-Western and anti-American propaganda, which is part of Iran’s broader strategy to support allies such as russia.
