kremlin spreads fakes about Ukraine and NATO preparing provocations in Syria
russia’s foreign intelligence service is disseminating disinformation, claiming that NATO and Ukrainian special services, alongside local armed groups, are preparing a “chemical weapons provocation” in Syria and plan to blame russia for it.
◽️ This is not the first time russian propagandists have made such baseless accusations against Ukraine. It’s a key tactic in russia’s information warfare strategy. By promoting the narrative about “Ukrainian terrorism”, russian propaganda seeks to discredit Ukraine on the international stage.
◽️ Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, russian propaganda is exploiting the situation to create a negative perception of Ukraine.
In reality, russia is one of the main destabilizing factors in the Middle East and could very well carry out a provocation in Syria. Russian propaganda previously justified the use of chemical weapons by Bashar al-Assad’s forces and bears responsibility for these actions. Moscow continues to provide political support to authoritarian regimes responsible for killing thousands of civilians, further threatening global security.
