North Korea’s propaganda: Im Cheon IL
The CCD continues its series of reports on propaganda in North Korea. Another influential propagandist in the country is Im Cheon Il, the DPRK’s deputy foreign minister for russian affairs.
He has been in office since 2018 and is actively involved in diplomatic activities, including attending meetings during russian dictator vladimir putin’s recent trip to Pyongyang.
Im Cheon Il frequently makes statements about the russian-Ukrainian war, promoting the following propaganda message favorable to russia:
◽️ “The US is profiting from the war in Ukraine”;
◽️ “No military assistance to Ukraine will stop the advance of russian troops”;
◽️ “The United States opposes cooperation between the DPRK and russia because it wants to maintain hegemony in the world”;
◽️ “NATO is a threat to the independence of countries and is the organizer of the Ukrainian crisis”;
◽️ “Friendship between russia and the DPRK is a powerful fortress for preserving peace in the world”.
❗️Additionally, russian propaganda has actively disseminated an article by Im Cheon Il, in which he referred to US military aid as “a psychotropic substance for Ukraine” and denied the fact of russia’s military aggression against Ukraine.
