russian propaganda unleashes new wave of fakes about events in the kursk region

«Genocide in Suzha» and «the story of a wounded Ukrainian soldier»: new fakes of ru-propaganda about the events in kursk region

The Center for Countering Disinformation continues to monitor the russian information space and identify new fakes and manipulations about the events in the kursk region spread by enemy propaganda.

The following topics have been identified by the CCD as another wave of disinformation publications:

◽️«Executions of our own». In an attempt to undermine the morale of Ukrainians and discredit the Armed Forces, enemy propaganda claims that Ukrainian commanders in the kursk region shoot their subordinates if they refuse to follow orders.

◽️«Attack on pensioners». The propagandists made a story about the work of combat medics in the kursk region, who told about the rescue of two pensioners after an alleged attack by a Ukrainian drone on their car. However, for some reason, the story does not show the pensioners, but rather the aid to wounded russian soldiers.

◽️«Genocide». The enemy propaganda continues to talk about «war crimes of Ukrainians» in the kursk region, publishing yet another «eyewitness testimony». The heroes of such videos talk about «Ukrainian Nazis who shoot everyone indiscriminately» and allegedly came to the kursk region «to exterminate the russian people». The operation in the kursk region has been going on for almost a month now, and the russians have not yet shown any evidence of these «Ukrainian atrocities».

◽️«Looting in the kursk region». A video of a Ukrainian-language blogger talking about mass looting in the kursk region is being actively shared. To give weight to his words, he claims to be reading a message from a soldier who was injured in the kursk region. This information operation is aimed primarily at Ukrainians and is intended to raise doubts about the actions of our military leadership. The video contains narratives that have long been actively promoted by ru-propaganda to the Ukrainian audience – that the kursk operation is a ‘contractual agreement’ and that the Ukrainian Armed Forces should fight in Donbas, not in kursk.
