Why ru-propaganda is promoting the launch of state-owned banks in the TOT
russian media are actively reporting on the launch of major russian state-owned banks in the occupied territories. Meanwhile, ATMs are being installed, and branches of these financial institutions are allegedly being rapidly established in these areas.
Despite the occupation of Crimea and parts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions lasting for 10 years, russian banks were reluctant to officially enter these territories due to fears of stricter sanctions. By ramping up their presence now, moscow aims to achieve several propaganda objectives simultaneously:
◽️ a message to the local population that “russia is here forever”;
◽️ “good news” for the start of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum;
◽️ imitation of rapid activity in the context of putin’s new presidential term.
In reality, russia is trying to finally “tighten the screws” on the forced passportization of the TOT population, as well as to increase the profits of state-owned banks.
