Pro-russian NGOs in Ukraine pass off grotesque parodies of news about the President of Ukraine as truth

Fake information is spread on Facebook that Volodymyr Zelenskyy has asked German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to “send Bundeswehr troops to Ukraine.” The president is credited with the following quote: “We are always glad to have a German soldier on our land.”

The original source of the fake news was a post on the website of Vladyslav Markiv, director of “Objective Reality” LLC, head of the Odesa regional branch of the NGO “The Foundation of the future”, journalist of the NGO “Legal Control of Ukraine”, known for his pro-russian position. This NGO is positioned as “an independent social project launched by a group of activists together with a number of lawyers and media representatives.” The post was actively distributed mostly among pro-kremlin groups (in particular, the publicly accessible pro-kremlin group “We are for Russian President Vladimir Putin”).

As StopFake researchers found out, the President of Ukraine did not say anything of the sort. In fact, the source of Zelenskyy’s quote about German soldiers is the satirical news website “Panorama” (https://panorama.pub/), which positions itself as “the oldest soviet and russian news agency” and whose editor-in-chief Boris Gontermacher specializes in creating and disseminating deliberately fictionalized news from russian political and cultural life in a satirical style.

Under each publication, the resource warns: “All texts on this site are grotesque parodies of reality and are not real news.”

Thus, the “information” is a deliberate fake aimed at discrediting the President of Ukraine.
