On February 21, in his speech, putin eloquently called our country “Lenin’s Ukraine” and named dozens of pseudo-reasons to somehow justify his decision to officially recognize the TOT of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Already today, the State Duma of russia has unanimously ratified the ” treaty of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance” between russia and the TOT of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, thus unanimously supporting their leader. After signing this agreement, peskov said that russia had officially withdrawn from the Minsk agreements.
Also, every hour, Telegram channels post information that the leaders of the TOT of Donetsk and Luhansk regions intend to “recapture” their regions outside their former borders. This is why the message is being actively promoted that the pro-Western Ukrainian opposition, with the support of nationalists, is calculating the possibilities for a “new Maidan” and a coup d’état if Zelenskyy tries to agree to hold direct talks with the republics.
It should be understood that these messages are inspired by russian special services to split Ukrainian society and exacerbate political confrontation. The President clearly expressed his position at a press conference on February 22. When asked by a journalist about the leaders of TOT of Donetsk and Luhansk regions who “ask to withdraw troops to the borders of the regions,” V. Zelenskyy replied: “We do not communicate with them, we do not understand who they are.”
