Why real results of BRICS did not meet kremlin’s expectations
The primary outcome of the BRICS summit in kazan, which russian propaganda hailed as a geopolitical event of global significance, is simply a joint declaration.
▫️ Throughout the summit, there was much talk of “multilateralism” and “multipolarity.” Russia pushed ambitious plans for an alternative payment system to the US dollar, proposed to create a “grain exchange,” and offered mechanisms for resolving trade disputes.

▫️ The final kazan declaration contains mostly formal statements, including calls to prevent an arms race in space, admit Palestine to the UN, and lift economic sanctions.
▫️ The BRICS position on the war in Ukraine remained unchanged, echoing prior statements from China, Brazil, and others, “welcoming” mediation proposals “aimed at a peaceful resolution through dialogue and diplomacy.”

In reality, BRICS remains largely a declarative organization, with most members focused on addressing their own narrow economic interests.
