Why the kremlin Is Restricting Young People’s Access to Higher Education

The russian government Approves Bill to Restrict Admissions to Paid Higher Education

▫️ru-propaganda frames the decision as a move to “protect the youth,” claiming that many are currently pursuing degrees for which there is “no demand in the labor market.” However, the kremlin’s true goal is to restrict access to higher education for ordinary russians, reserving it for the “elite,” while steering the rest toward military service or jobs in the defense industry.

Currently, about half of russian students study on a paid basis, but once this bill is enacted, those opportunities will become more limited. The kremlin is deliberately reshaping russian society to become more archaic and militarized—making it easier to manipulate and mobilize for war.
