Today, russia marks the 11th anniversary of the occupation of Crimea. Various mass events have been planned across the country for the occasion, with extensive involvement of public sector employees, and thematic lessons will be held in schools.

Both russians and Crimean residents understand that after 11 years of occupation, Crimea has not become the “showcase of success” that the kremlin promised. The kremlin also realizes that the Crimea topic no longer generates the same effect of uniting the population.
No propaganda can hide the fact that instead of the prosperity promised by the kremlin, the russian authorities have turned Crimea into a massive military base, making it dangerous for its residents. Moreover, the peninsula is becoming increasingly unlivable, as russia fails to provide even basic necessities—issues with water and electricity supply remain unresolved for years.
