War criminals are the new elite of Russia: Kirill Losunchukov

Kirill Losunchukov is a field officer in the Russian army and a participant in Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

He completed his military education in 2012 and joined the Russian army. Losunchukov serves as a special forces paratrooper and holds the rank of major in the 45th Separate Special Forces Brigade of the Russian Airborne Forces. This unit was responsible for seizing the airfield in Hostomel during the first days of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, an operation that resulted in the destruction of the world’s largest aircraft, the Mriya.

Ukrainian law enforcement previously identified soldiers from this unit in eastern Ukraine as early as spring 2014, at a time when Russian officials denied the presence of their troops in Donbas.

For his service, Losunchukov has been awarded three Orders of Courage. He also participated in the Kremlin’s “Time of Heroes” program, and became a part of so-called “Russia’s new elite”. Recently, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry, and Science in the Moscow region.
